Lijo spent close to two decades in the Indian Navy and operated 6 attack submarines in various capacities and retired as a Commander. During his tenure at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai, he headed the submarines division and later was the Project Coordinator for the construction of the Scorpene submarines at Mazagon Docks. He was also a member of the team which constructed India’s first indigenous nuclear propelled submarine.
An avid outdoorsman who enjoys adventure activities, he can roll on skates, control a puck on ice, ski on water and snow laden slops, sail laser boats and para drop from aircrafts. His narrative of his climb of Mt Everest has been published by DC books, a leading Malayalam publishing house.
An alumnus of the Naval College of Engineering, Yale University and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, he is also a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers.
